Our Mr. Heater Big Buddy Pro propane heater is a safe, indoor-rated portable heating solution for tents, barns, garages, workshops, and other enclosed event spaces. It’s a popular choice for spring, fall, and winter events—especially when temperatures drop after the sun goes down.

Even if the day starts out warm, evenings can cool off quickly, particularly under tents or open structures. This heater is ideal for taking the chill out of the air and helping guests stay comfortable as the event continues into the night.

The Big Buddy produces adjustable radiant heat and is designed for short-term event use, making it a great option for backyard parties, wedding tents, barn gatherings, and garage celebrations.

Real-World Event Use:
Actual heat coverage depends on outdoor temperature, wind, ceiling height, tent size, sidewalls, and how enclosed the space is. In event settings such as tents, barns, or garages, this heater is intended to take the chill out of the air, not heat the space like a residential furnace.

How it compares to a standard 1500-watt electric heater:
A typical plug-in electric space heater produces about 5,000 BTUs at maximum. The Mr. Heater Big Buddy Pro delivers up to 18,000 BTUs on high—over three times the heat output—without needing electricity. Perfect for tents, barns, garages, or other event spaces where plug-in heaters often aren’t enough.

For best performance:

• Most effective in enclosed areas or tents with sidewalls
• Ideal for small to mid-size tents, bars, buffet areas, seating areas, or high-traffic zones
• Larger tents or colder weather may require multiple heaters
• We’re happy to recommend the right number of heaters for your event

1-lb Propane Cylinders

• Connects directly to two 1-lb propane cylinders
• Each rental includes two full 1-lb propane cylinders
• Estimated runtime per set of two cylinders:
  • Low (4,000 BTU): ~13 hours
  • Medium (9,000 BTU): ~6 hours
  • High (18,000 BTU): ~2.5 hours
• Perfect for indoor use in garages, workshops, or enclosed areas

20-lb Propane Tank Option

• Includes full 20-lb propane cylinder, hose, and additional regulator
• Estimated runtime with 20-lb tank:
  • Low (4,000 BTU): ~90 hours
  • Medium (9,000 BTU): ~40 hours
  • High (18,000 BTU): ~18 hours
• Ideal for longer events, colder conditions, or larger tents
• For safety and code compliance, the 20-lb tank must remain outside enclosed buildings (homes, garages, barns, etc.). With tents, the tank can sit just outside the sidewall, and our 12-ft hose makes it easy to connect safely inside.
• Setup and demonstration included at delivery so you feel confident operating the heater

Additional Notes:

• We’ll connect the propane and demonstrate operation at delivery, showing how to attach cylinders, start safely, and change cylinders during your event if needed
• Extra propane cylinders are available for longer events or colder evenings, with unused, unopened cylinders eligible for full refund

• Battery-operated carbon monoxide (CO) safety alarm, positioned in front of the heater’s operating direction for extra peace of mind
• Hands-on setup and safety walkthrough, including:
  • How the propane cylinders attach
  • How to safely start and operate the heater
  • How to change cylinders during your event if needed

ℹ️ Important Notes

• Heater must remain upright on a stable, level surface
• Maintain clear space around the heater and away from tent sidewalls or flammable materials
• 1-lb cylinders are fully safe for indoor use, but when using the 20-lb propane tank, the tank itself must remain outside of enclosed buildings or structures. Under tents, the tank can be safely positioned just outside a sidewall or perimeter with our 12-ft hose.
